It is the most silent place on the planet."

21-Day Pilgrimage to India
January 26 to February 15, 2010

Activities on the Pilgrimage

  • Visiting the Ramana Ashram (which includes the satsang/meditation room, samadhi sites, bookstore, library and main hall, where pujas, chanting and bajans take place).

  • Meditating in the caves on the mountainside, where Ramana Maharshi spent over 20 years.

  • Satsangs and private appointments with Ramana.

  • Attending the satsangs/darshans of the fully awakened beings around the mountain. (Legend has it that there are always five such beings giving darshan/satsangs at any given time.) Some will allow for personal interviews to personally receive a blessing.

  • Circumambulation (circling around Arunachala), which includes many holy sites).

  • A field trip to the Main Shiva Temple (the largest in all of India). This temple is so large, it will take an entire day to see it.

  • A field trip to the Sri Arubindo Ashram in Pondicherry

  • A field trip to Auroville, where we will meditate in the star chamber in the Giant Dome, which was built to be the focus and power spot of the Sri Arubindo community

  • A field trip to a village Shakti/Durga temple, a potent local center for Goddess Worship.

  • An (optional) field trip to Kanchiporum, the "city of a thousand temples," and South India's central location for worship of the Divine Mother (and the location of the marriage of Shiva and Shakti).

  • A field trip to the town of Thirvanamali for shopping, sightseeing.

  • Just being in the Silence
